BUSY DAY AT CHESTER
57308 "County of Staffordshire" was parked up at Crewe. 22/11/2014
I was off to Chester to see two steam charters and the Crewe-Chester shuttle comprised 158832, the previous two shuttles having been cancelled. 22/11/2014
Chester and 508126 arrived with a Merseyrail service. 22/11/2014
Hippos were in plenty, this one is 175101 which ran as a two car test unit when the class was first introduced. 22/11/2014
LNER class A4 pacific 4464 "Bittern" (BR 60019) was scheduled to arrive with the Cathedrals Express before the two class fives but the latter were running late so 4464 it was. 22/11/2014
507024. 22/11/2014
The crowds on all platforms were already impressive but some of the passengers from Bittern's train joined the throng to wait for the Stanier engines. 22/11/2014
Running from Bristol as THE CHRISTMAS CHESHIREMAN, the train was piloted by 44871 which, sadly, wasn't carrying a headboard. 22/11/2014
Running inside was 45407 "Lancashire Fusilier". 22/11/2014
The train paused to disembark passengers and posed in the low Winter Sun. 22/11/2014
Hearing a heavy, double-headed train take off, rarely in sync, is always an endearing sound for me. The ecs working was off to Crewe where the engines would turn on the triangle before moving onto the Heritage Centre for servicing. 22/11/2014
