People had gathered on the foot bridge to watch 45231 "The Sherwood Forester" head The Welsh Mountaineer running Preston-Blaenau Ffestiniog. 04/08/2015
The engine had run round at Chester to allow reverse running to Llandudno Junction. From there the locomotive could boiler first up the Conwy Valley branch in order to protect the fire box. 04/08/2015
158822 stormed through heading East. 04/08/2015
The class 5 was held at Llandudno Junction to allow for taking on water and this allowed me to catch up with it. 175114 was heading West to Holyhead. 04/08/2015
Any hope of getting near to 5231 was dashed when I saw the crowd so I retreated across the station to catch the engine on its run-round. 04/08/2015

Heading for Blaenau Ffestiniog. The train came to a halt when the engine slipped in driving rain just outside Betws-y-coed. The train was dropped back to Llanrwst North from where it commenced the return journey. 04/08/2015
