A rail37.com PICTURE REPORT
  CREWE - CHESTER - BANGOR - HOLYHEAD
6100 ROYAL SCOT
PART THREE - 19th MARCH 2009
 Part one          Part two

The last day of steam testing and for final adjustments before Royal Scot leaves for the West Country. To the right is 47575 awaiting its fate and 92134 currently undergoing restoration.

Teams of Engineers, Painters and cleaners were working round the clock to have the engine ready on time.

Receiving attention to the smoke deflectors......

 .......and the safety valves.

Time to fit the brassware, first came the commemorative plate - heavier than it looks.

 Then the iconic nameplate.

The completed items - now the engine looks finished.

 Tea break!

 That familiar shape is back!!

The first movement under its own power. Note the steam coming from the drain cock on the third (internal) cylinder.

B&W version - just for old time's sake.

 It looks better in green.

"Atmospheric" shots - delightful or what?

Most of the hard-working team are on this shot.

 Those who must be obeyed!

 Complexity.

 Where it all starts.

As ever my grateful thanks go to Steve, Richard and the staff at LNWR for their help in obtaining these pictures. Also to Keith Langston for his advice and technical help.
Please remember that this is a working environment and therefore not normally accessible to the general public. Severe health and safety regulations apply on the site.
