CHURNET
VALLEY RAILWAY STEAM
GALA 7th February 2009
5199 entering Cheddleton
Station en route for Froghall.
Next train out was
hauled by 45231 "Sherwood Forester".
Class 4F number 44422
storming up-bank on its way to Leekbrook.....
.....ably assisted
by "Jinty" 47279.
"Ring Haw"
leaving Cheddleton.
5199 returning North
passing Cheddleton's snow capped mountain range.
Diesel No6 "Roger
Bennett" was idle in the yard.
Elton Crossing box
looking in need of some TLC.
Down the line at Froghall,
44422 and 47279 were brought to a halt outside the station while
various items of stock were repositioned - it was a complicated
day for the railway.
Later "Ring
Haw" excelled as it stormed out of the station at Froghall.
Cute eh!
It was cheating slightly
as 44422 and 47279 were banking....
....and a fine sight
it made.
Later the two bankers
dropped back into Froghall station.
Where they both took
on water.
The pair then left
to transfer across to the down platform....
.....where their train
was waiting.
The DMU appeared alongside
the 4F and the Jinty.
It then left for Consall
before returning to allow the steam haulage to head North.
Eventually we had
steam thrashing out of the station.
