A RAIL37 Churnet Valley Railway picture report

CHURNET VALLEY RAILWAY GREAT MARQUESS DAY 14th January 2007

61994 "The Great Marquess" has been overhauled at LNWR workshops at Crewe and is now running-in on the Churnet Valley Railway before heading back to Scotland. The CVR had chosen to hold a special "2 train running" day and I called in to witnesss the events of the day. Attendance was very good judging by the number of cars and it was almost impossible to photograph because of the numbers lined up to shoot. I just managed to grab this one over the heads of many before 61994 left for Cheddleton.

Time for a bite to eat before the next train arrived hauled by 7821 "Ditcheat Manor". The train comprised a couple of vans and two coaches - very short for the CVR.

During the runround the Manor posed in the bright sunshine to reveal its service worn appearance which is much more reminiscent of the days of steam.

Over to Cheddleton and 61994 was leaving for Froghall - still hoards everywhere.

"on shed" was the evidence of the growing variety of motive power being developed on the CVR.

33102 awaiting overhaul.

Work on the up platform at Froghall is progressing, a far cry from earlier days.........
