A RAIL37 Churnet Valley Railway picture report

ANOTHER CHURNET VALLEY SUNDAY.
23rd JUNE 2002

Apologies to The Monkeys for paraphrasing one of the 1960's hits in the title (for you youngsters it was Another Pleasant Valley Sunday). A bit of local hill climbing for this one looking over the top of Cheddleton Depot as 68030 drifts towards the station.

Heading towards the station as the non-stop for Leekbrook

Returning to form the 15.00 for Consall and Froghall.

Ready to go. I find 68030 a very difficult engine to photograph because of its high gloss finish against black - can we have it dirtied up a bit please?

Arrival at Consall and where I got off to do some exploring down the valley. Driver Stephen Latham is waiting for the "green" as well as wondering what I am up to.

Further down the Valley and the train drifts round the bend from Froghall on its way to Consall.

Under the bridge with Stephen watching the road ahead.

And, after a swift manoeuvre by me, out the other side.

Coming into view out in the middle of nowhere while I was being slowly eaten by the local insect population. Did you ever see so much greenery?

Could there be snakes and Tigers out there?

Back to civilisation (well Consall anyway) and the train is passing the red PW van.

 Into the platform.

Back at Cheddleton now and the last train of the day is finished. The crew prepare to take the locomotive to the shed yard to drop the fire and perform all sorts of other disgusting tasks which involve getting their hands dirty!

 Steam is up.

 And off to the shed.

Another absolutely fantastic day down the valley with lots of people all enjoying themselves. No rain and plenty of warm sunshine. Oh to be in England..........
