A RAIL37 Churnet Valley Railway picture report

CHURNET VALLEY RAILWAY
8th August 2007

A Summer mid-week visit to the CVR and the healthy greenery gives a gentle feel.

Standard tank 80098 was on duty as it slid quietly into the platform.

An uneventful trip to Froghall with buffet car in the formation (gasp).

The engine crossed over and paused for refreshment which is more than I could get while on board - still, the cafe was open for business.

The wild life at Froghall is prolific.

The reconstruction of the up platform is well advanced and beginning to look authentic.

A view from the North end.

A wider shot showing the extent of the works and that ever-present drop into the Churnet.

Back to Cheddleton and a chance to look around. The S160 was receiving a polish.

Sorry but that signal is horrendous and just does not fit the scene at all.

There was a locomotive display led by the S160 positively gleaming in the Sun.

A peaceful rural scene.

A diesel shunter who's origin might be guessed from the two camels on the step sides.

It might not fit the scene but it looks very business-like to me.

It was good to see the class 33 around after its overhaul.
